Soul Asylum - Runaway Train

Soul Asylum对于很多国内歌迷来说都是一个比较陌生的名字，但是提起他们的主音吉他和主唱David Pirner，我却对此人崇敬万分。简单说一下，这支成立于1983年的另类摇滚乐队，成立时乐队奠定的风格是暴躁的朋克和硬摇滚风格，但是一直没有获得好评和轰动，发表了几张专辑也没有什么影响力，更加对这支乐队雪上加霜的是，由于长期的排练和演出的巨大声响，本就有耳疾的David Pirner失聪了。不知道是否他崇拜贝多芬。正如贝多芬在失聪之后谱写出了伟大的D小调第九交响曲——合唱，David也在坚持走自己的音乐的道路上取得了成功。首先他对原有乐队风格进行变换，从原来的暴戾转而原声、朋克转而柔情，以慢摇得形象重新出现。1992年他们推出了专辑《Grave Dancers Union》。这是一张深沉而不失柔情的原声专辑，刚一登榜就引起了从乐评者到普通乐迷的巨大惊喜，专辑中的很多作品都是经典之作，而《Runaway train》更成为世界级的摇滚经典。在乐队随后的专辑中仍坚持了此张专辑奠定的音乐风格，乐队的歌迷和专辑销量与日俱增，外型俊朗的乐队的灵魂人物David Pirner也成为90年代非主流摇滚的代表人物。
