从去年的 WordCamp 到现在，WordPress 增加了下面这些功能：

  • bbpress
    论坛程序，可以和 WordPress 完美整合
  • WordPress MU
    多用户版的 WordPress。
  • Autosave
    指在编辑日志时候的自动保存功能。
  • Tabbed Editing
  • Ajax
  • Extension to XML-RPC
  • Pseudo-cron
    支持预定义任务时序安排框架
  • Custom headers
    自定义化默认主题的头部！
  • Widgets
    核心代码支持 Widgets

新的 WordPress 开发计划

  • 2.3 将在九月份发布。
  • 开发员承诺每年发布3个版本，4个月的开发周期。
  • WordPress 将会演变进化成一个内容管理系统 (CMS)。
  • Mike Adams 继续将把 WordPress 核心功能 (用户系统，登录系统，格式化， sanitization（不知道这个词怎么翻译好），脚本建设) 整理到一个叫做 BackPress 代码库中。
  • 可能引入 WordPress 缓存代理机制 (WPCP)，一个更适合簇箱的程序自省的带来服务器。(这里翻译可能有误，原文是 Possible inclusion of WordPress Caching Proxy (WPCP) a more application-aware proxy server suitable for a cluster of boxes.)
  • 内建可以使用 S3，Flickr 或者其他存储站点的 API。
  • 更好的本地化语言。
  • 改进 Akismet，特别是当 Akismet 服务不行的时候怎么样处理评论。
  • 改进可视化编辑。
  • 增强支持图像，声音（如 Podcasts）和视频的支持。

个人意见：

非常期待 2.3，主要是它支持 tag 功能，我一直没有装 UTW 这个插件就是因为 2.3 内置 tag 功能。

WordPress 其实现在很多人已经把它作成了 CMS 系统了，不知道它下一步会怎么演化。但愿不要像别的 CMS 系统一样其他个功能太强了，反而丢掉了原来好的东西。另外担心它功能增加之后的速度问题。

现在我还不是很清楚 Mike Adams 做的是不是文档的工作。如果是对于 WordPress 的使用将会有非常大的帮助。

WPCP 这个缓存代理机制，我不是很了解，现在默认的 Cache 功能好像提速不了多少，所以很多人要去使用 wp-cache 这个插件。

Akismet 确实需要改进了。其他的功能关注比较少，也不多评论了。

Don’t put your blog at the root of your domain.
不要把博客放在你域名的根目录。
查看如何在子目录安装 WordPress

Name your directory ‘blog’ instead of ‘wordpress’.
把你的目录命名为 ‘blog’ 而不是 ‘wordpress’。
这个可能感觉更加专业吧！ :-)

In URLs, no spaces are worst, underscore are better, dashes or hyphens are best.
在 URL 中，没有间隔是最差的，有下划线可能好些，点号或者连字符是最好的。
最新报告建议 Google 将会同等对待下划线和连字符

Use alt tags on images: not only is it good accessibility, it’s good SEO.
给图片使用 alt 标签，这并仅仅是可访问性，着同样是好的 SEO
不要犹豫，Google 图片搜索可以给你增加流量

Include keywords naturally in your posts.
自然的在你日志中包含关键字。
关键字可能会对 SEO 有负面作用，请阅读最重要的搜索引擎排名因素。

Make your post dates easy to find.
使得你日志的发布日期明显可见。

Check your blog on a cell phone and/or iPhone.
在手机或者 iPhone 上查看你的博客
跨平台兼容性是必需的。你的博客在 Safari 上工作正常吗？

Use partial-text feeds if you want more page views; use full-text feeds if you want more loyal readers.
如果你想更多的页面浏览，使用摘要 feed，如果你想要更多忠实的读者，请使用全文 feed。
这个争辩是不会终止的。

Blogs should do standard pings.
博客应该使用标准的 Pings。
这里有很多一键同时 Ping 多个博客服务。

Standardize backlinks (don’t mix and match www with non-www).
标准化返回链接（不要把有 www 和没有 www 混在一起）。
修改 .htaccess 去解决这个问题。在 Google Sitemaps 中设置你自己偏爱的符合规定的域名。

Use a permanent redirect (301) when moving to a new host.
当迁移主机的时候请使用永久重定向（301）。
这是最安全的，SEO 友好重定向方式。当你从 Blogger 迁移到 WordPress 的时候，你可能要考虑的更多，因为 Blogger 不允许这种重定向。

Don’t include the post date in your URL.
不要在 URL 中包含发表日期。
可能对那些“常绿的”文章非常有用。但是 Google News 可能不会索引你，因为 Google News 需要 URL 必须包含至少三个数字组成的唯一的数字（在永久链接中的年份和月份满足了这个技术要求）。

When moving between hosts, wait until Googlebot and traffic begin to visit the new host before taking down the old one.
在主机之间迁移的时候，直到 Google 机器人开始访问和流量转到新的主机的时候，再卸下旧的。
非常好的建议，但是也要考虑到重复文章的问题。从 blogger 迁移到 WordPress 是一个巨大的工程，但是我们成功了。

If using AdSense, use sectioning.
如果使用 AdSense，请使用 Sectioning。
内容相关的广告会表现的更好，如果广告是相关的。告诉 Google 爬虫那些内容是相关的，使用 section targeting。

Use FeedBurner’s (now) free MyBrand feature to take control of your feeds.
使用 FeedBurner 免费的 MyBrand 特性去更好的控制你的 feed。
Google 买了 Feedburner  之后，MyBrand 就免费了。
